Pilot & Feasibility Studies Submission Form
Please use NIH application forms
(9/06) which can be found here.
Each application should include:
(1) PFS submission form.
(2) Face page including title
of the project, name of Principal Investigator, Institution address,
budget, etc.
(3) Summary page briefly outlining
the long-term objects and specific aims and concisely describing
the research design, methods and significance. Also on this page,
list the personnel engaged in the project.
(4) Table of contents.
(5) Budget page for year one; budget
is up to a maximum of $25,000/year for salary support and supplies.
(indirect cost will be as negotiated for the CURE Center grant)
(6) Biographical sketch (Do not
exceed 4 pages).
(7) Other support page listing
current active support and pending applications.
(8) Resources and Environment
page.
(9) Research plan; this includes:
specific aims, background, preliminary data (or progress report
for renewal applications with a list of publications that resulted
from the previous year), experimental design, methods and significance
of the proposal. The research plan should not exceed 10 pages;
there should be no more than 10 characters per inch.
(10) References (2 pages maximum).
(11) A letter from a sponsor (if applicant is a junior investigator) stating (a) the availability of facilities, (b) the benefits of the Pilot and Feasibility award for the applicant, (c) the relevance of the applicant's project to CURE: Digestive Diseases Research Center's overall program, and d) the project is sufficiently different form any other projects in the mentor's lab and the applicant will be able to utilize the data resulting from this project to obtain funding independent from the mentor.
