James Sinnett-Smith, BSc

Specialist, Division of Digestive Diseases, Department of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA

Mr. Sinnett-Smith has worked with Dr. Rozengurt in demonstrating that GI peptides can act as potent growth factors for normal and tumor cells in culture. He has subsequently been involved in unraveling the signal transduction pathways that mediate the mitogenic effects of GI peptides and growth factors.  More recently, he contributed to the cloning of a novel protein kinase (PKD) that appears involved in multiple cellular functions and is potently activated by GI peptides.  His current activities include the characterization of the role of protein kinase (PKD) in the mitogenic action of G protein-coupled receptor agonists.
