The Larry Myers Research Award

Purpose: Annual award for five years given to honor the memory of Larry Myers.
Eligibility: A postdoctoral scholar or fellow working in the laboratory of a CURE member.
Award Amount: $1000.00
Use of Award: To be used (1) to fund travel to a conference that the winner would not otherwise be able to attend or (2) to purchase books, computer hardware or software , or a piece of laboratory equipment that will contribute to the completion of a research project.
Application: Applications are due January 15 and will include: (1) a CV, (2) a one-page research statement describing the current research project, and (3) a letter of recommendation from the sponsor.
Selection: A small committee will be appointed to select the winner from the applications submitted. The winner will be selected based on originality of research and productivity (papers published).
Announcement: The award will be announced and presented to the recipient at the annual all-day research meeting. Within four months of receipt of the prize, the recipient will give a research seminar in the CURE Lyon Library. This seminar series will be called the "Larry Myers Memorial Seminar." Two identical memorial plaques will be engraved with the name of each year's recipient. At the end of five years, one plaque will be retained at CURE while the other plaque will be presented to the Myers family.
